Michael Olise did indeed tell his teammates in the French national team about his desire to join Real Madrid, according to BILD.

However, Bayern Munich remain determined to keep the player and would ideally like to extend his contract as soon as possible.

The reigning Bundesliga champions are keen to offer him more than €25million gross per year and thus making him one of the top earners.

As things stand, it's unlikely that Olise would force his way out, as he's not known for being a troublemaker and is happy at the club.

Regarding the rumours, former Bayern star Lothar Matthaüs believes the 24-year-old winger will remain in Munich this season.

“Personally, I can understand wanting to play for Real Madrid," the 65-year-old explained in his column for Sport BILD.

"Every player wants to play for Real Madrid at some point. But Bayern won't even entertain any talks. They'll just laugh the headlines off.

"I estimate the possibility of Olise playing for Real Madrid next year to be practically zero. I think Bayern will extend his contract and increase his salary”
