Bayern Munich will have to manage without star winger Michael Olise when they face Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday, as the Frenchman is suspended after seeing red against Viking FK last week.
Although he recognises that Olise’s absence will leave a gap, Harry Kane is confident that other players can step in and make a difference.
“When one of your key players is missing, you definitely feel the difference. But that’s exactly when other players have to step up and make the most of this opportunity,” Kane said, as quoted by fcbayern.com.
“Whoever plays has to be ready. That’s the nature of the competition at Bayern – and it’s a key factor," said the forward, who added that “everyone trains to an extremely high standard”.
"Others can step in and, hopefully, do a really good job,” he underlined.
The former Tottenham Hotspur forward is looking forward to a “big game” against the Gunners.
“When you’re playing against one of the best teams in Europe, you always have to savour moments like this. We’re up for the challenge. We’re playing here at home – the energy, the fans – it’s sure to be a special night,” the England captain said in the wake of Bayern’s 6-1 win over RB Leipzig at the weekend.
“We need to carry the momentum we had in this match into Wednesday’s game. We’re expecting a tough match, so we need to approach it with a clear head. We’re all looking forward to it.”
The game between Bayern Munich and Arsenal at the Allianz Arena kicks off on Wednesday at 21:00 CEST.
