Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich played out a true Champions League classic on Tuesday night, with the French champions winning the first leg of the semi-final tie 5-4 in spectacular fashion.

UEFA’s Technical Observer Group was faced with the difficult task of selecting a Player of the Match among several outstanding performances.

Ultimately, as announced after the game, Ousmane Dembélé was given the honour.

The Ballon d’Or holder was directly involved in three of PSG’s five goals, providing the assist for João Neves, scoring from the penalty spot, and later adding a second goal himself.

“Ousmane Dembélé had the most overall impact on the result of this stunning match," said the UEFA Technical Observer Group, explaining the decision.

"He scored twice, provided one assist and was directly involved in a further two.”
