There has been speculation over whether Julian Nagelsmann could leave his role as Germany coach after the World Cup this summer, two years before his contract expires.

Recent reports have linked Nagelsmann with a move to the English Premier League, with Manchester United among the clubs said to be interested in the 38-year-old.

However, Germany sporting director Rudi Völler has now made it clear that an early departure for the former Bayern Munich coach is not under consideration.

Asked how long Nagelsmann will remain in the role, Völler said on Wednesday evening (via DPA):

“The DFB is completely satisfied with how Julian is doing. What happens after Euro 2028, I can’t yet say in his case. But definitely until 2028.”

“Julian is a top coach. He is extremely empathetic. I know how he deals with the players. You couldn’t wish for anything better," Völler added.

Nagelsmann has been Germany coach since September 2023.
