According to the latest updates from BILD, FC Schalke 04 could make a surprise move for veteran marksman Edin Džeko.
The Bosnian striker – formerly of VfL Wolfsburg from 2007 to 2011 – is currently under contract with AC Fiorentina.
However, it is suggested that the 39-year-old is unhappy at the struggling Seria A side ranked seventeenth in the table and wants to leave.
Schalke reportedly envisions a heavily performance-based contract to avoid disrupting the current wage structure.
The outline of the deal would involve each goal scored being rewarded extra and a very high promotion bonus is also planned.
Muslic and defender Nikola Katic, both of whom played with Džeko in the Bosnian national team, are expected to convince him to join.
Negotiations with the Gelsenkirchen club's sporting director Frank Baumann are already believed to be underway.
According to Bild, Schalke intends to score points primarily with two arguments: a "special contract" and coach Miron Muslic.
