Having already snatched up midfielders Luca Kurber (1. FC Saarbrücken) and Julian Niehues (1. FC Kaiserslautern) on frees, Bundesliga side 1. FC Heidenheim appear poised to complete their first paying summer signing. Sky Germany reports that the Albogen club are set to fork over €500,000 in order to secure the services of Brazilian attacker Leonardo Scienza of 3. Liga outfit SSV Ulm 1846.
The 25-year-old leads the current first-placed 3. Liga club in scorer points. Scienza has netted eight league goals and contributed a further 14 assists in 30 appearances for the "sparrows" this season. Many second and third division sides had been linked with the versatile dual-footer, but it appears the neighboring top tier club from around 35 kilometers away have won the race to obtain him via a set release clause.
