Stuttgart sign Swiss international on loan

VfB Stuttgart have announced the signing of Swiss international Fabian Rieder on loan from Stade Rennes.

VfB Stuttgart have strengthened their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season with the signing of Swiss international Fabian Rieder.

The 22-year-old midfielder joins the Swabians on a season-long loan.

"Fabian Rieder is a very good fit for us with his footballing qualities and the experience he has already gained despite his relatively young age. We are convinced that he can quickly become an important factor in our game and welcome Fabian to VfB," said Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth.

Rieder is delighted to be joining "an incredible club with fantastic fans".

"I am really looking forward to playing in front of these fans. I want to bring my quality and experience to VfB and help the team with the challenges that lie ahead," he said.

He scored three goals and provided one assist in 21 appearances for Stade Rennes last season.

Stuttgart have already had a busy summer transfer window, bringing in Nick Woltemade, Yannik Keitel, Stefan Drljaca, Justin Diehl and Jeff Chabot. The Bundesliga outfit have also made the loan moves of Jamie Lewewling, Anthony Rouault and Leonidas Stergiou permanent.
