Thioune on Agu injury amid Bremen's heavy loss to Twente: "It didn't look good"

SV Werder Bremen's worrying mid-season 7-0 friendly defeat to FC Twente today has come with an added piece of concern.

For Felix Agu, playing for Bremen for the first time since the training camp in the Zillertal in mid-July should have been a happy occasion.

Instead, the Osnabrück native had to leave the pitch injured after 40 minutes – just before Daniel Thioune's side leaked a fifth goal.

"I received a signal from him shortly before halftime that he was no longer able to continue playing," Thioune after the match.

While the head coach was unable to give a precise diagnosis, he didn't seem particularly optimistic about the 27-year-old's situation.

“It [the injury] didn't look good, I think he's experiencing muscular problems again,” said Thioune, before Peter Niemeyer continued.

"He felt something slightly and then went off as a precaution, but he didn't want to commit to anything either.

“The imaging [from an MRI scan] at the weekend will show what it ultimately is," Bremen's head of football concluded.

Sadly, the versatile full-back has had several of these setbacks in the past, and could miss next Friday's clash with Borussia Dortmund.
