Viking FK captain Zlatko Tripic was delighted after his side secured their first-ever Champions League point on Tuesday night, drawing 3-3 with European giants Bayern Munich.
The 33-year-old played a key role in the game, helping to provoke Bayern star Michael Olise into a costly loss of composure that saw him sent off.
Olise was initially shown a yellow card for a challenge on Tripic before receiving a second booking and a red card for throwing the ball into his opponent’s face.
“I’m unbelievably happy. I think I managed to get under the skin of half the Bayern team, and I’ve been waiting 34 years for this,” Tripic told TV 2 after the match.
Reflecting on his clash with Olise, he added:
“He wasn’t going to come here and have an easy time. I managed to distract him a little, and he threw the ball straight into my face. I feel like I won the battle against him today.”
