It caused plenty of controversy when referee Christian Dingert showed Bayern Munich’s Luis Díaz a second yellow card for alleged simulation during Saturday’s 1-1 draw between Bayer Leverkusen and the German champions.

After the match, Bayern strongly criticised the decision, which Dingert himself later admitted was a mistake after reviewing the incident.

As reported by Sky Germany, Bayern have now decided to file an appeal with the German Football Association (DFB) sports court over the suspension the Colombian forward is now facing.

“We are viewing the developments of the past few weeks with concern,” said Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, adding:

"The performance in Leverkusen was the peak of a phase in which we have repeatedly been confronted with questionable decisions. Whether in Hamburg, in Dortmund, or in Leverkusen – there were repeatedly controversial scenes that often went against us.

“The DFB is required to improve the level of performance of its referees. The fact that Christian Dingert admits his mistake is honorable, but that alone does not help us.”

In their next games, Bayern face Atalanta in the Champions League on Wednesday before taking on Union Berlin in the Bundesliga next week.
