Hoeness after 5-0 win: "We're only at the beginning"
After losing 3-1 to Freiburg in their Bundesliga opener, VfB Stuttgart bounced back to winning ways on Tuesday with a 5-0 away win over 2. Bundesliga side Preussen Münster in the DFB-Pokal.
For VfB Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeness, the game was undoubtedly a step in the right direction - "but nothing more".
"There was pressure today. It was important for us to know internally that we had analysed it correctly, that was clear, but also that we were able to implement it on the pitch. That was good," Hoeness told ARD television.
It is clear, however, that there is still a long way to go.
"We are only at the beginning," explained the 42-year-old, stressing that it will take time for the new players to find their feet.
"Unlike a lot of other teams, we've had a lot of changes over the summer. We're a young squad again this year, so we've had to react to a lot of departures and things have to fall into place.
"We need time, training, games and successful matches like today, that certainly helps.
Stuttgart lost key players Hiroki Ito, Waldemar Anton and Serhou Guirassy during the summer.
