HSV defender set for trial in attack amid Grønbaek's absence?

With Albert Grønbaek set for an extended spell on the sidelines, Merlin Polzin is hastily considering his replacement options.  

While summer signings Patson Daka and Martin Adeline provide like-for-like cover, a more unusual option would be Miro Muheim. 

According to Fussballdaten.de, the Swiss player is usually wing-back, but due to his attacking style could be utilized further forward.

The online portal suggests the 28-year-old could theoretically be deployed as a half-number 10 alongside Fábio Vieira.

Muheim had recently been struggling with injuries and had lost his starting position as a left wing-back to David Møller Wolfe.

However, Grønbaek's injury could now open up a new opportunity for him to apply himself in attack and impress head coach Polzin.

In addition, Muheim brings a set piece threat and could therefore take over said duties in Grønbaek's untimely absence.

After the international break, HSV will first face TSG Hoffenheim, but whether Muheim plays further forward remains speculation for now.

For Grønbaek, the match against Paderborn on Saturday, 24 October, is considered the earliest realistic possible date for the Dane's return.
