Augsburg confirm: Cordova in USA on year-long-loan

FC Augsburg have officially responded to the reports surfacing about Venezuelan striker Sergio Cordova.
The reports appearing in the German press and photos popping up on American social media feeds with respect to Sergio Cordova necessitated some sort of response from Bundesliga club FC Augsburg. On Thursday, the Fuggerstädter confirmed that the 24-year-old is in the USA on a year-long-loan. Why the arrangement wasn't immediately confirmed on deadline day remains unclear.

"He wanted a change and we complied with that," FCA trainer Markus Weinzierl noted at his Thursday presser.

The club's official statement notes that the loan deal runs through January 2023. There is no information regarding a potential purchase clause as of yet. Cordova had been targeted by MLS side Real Salt Lake for quite some time via a provision known as a "discovery list" that gives MLS clubs first dibs on certain desired European players.
