Bayern München legend Franz Beckenbauer says he would like the Bavarians to hire Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp at some point.

Klopp coached Mainz and Borussia Dortmund before becoming the manager of Liverpool in 2015. And Beckenbauer is hopeful that the 51-year-old will one day return to Germany to take the reins at Bayern.

"Jürgen Klopp at FC Bayern would be the pinnacle," Beckenbauer told Sky and added:

"Klopp is exceptional. When he was at Borussia Dortmund, he introduced the Germans to what playing fast means. He has done that with success for years. In the meantime, many have adopted his style which is very successful and attractive."

Bayern München president Uli Hoeness has revealed that the Bavarians nearly hired Klopp in 2008, but Jürgen Klinsmann was ultimately brought in instead.
