Report: Bayern near new loan deal for Singh

New Zealand daily the Timaru Herald reports that FC Bayern II prospect Sarpreet Singh will not be eligible to play for his country in the coming Olympic Games as Bayern are close to securing a new loan deal for him.
German footballing enthusiasts continue to remain interested in the career trajectory of 22-year-old New Zealand international Sarpreet Singh. The young attacking midfielder, who appeared on the precipice of a major breakthrough during the 2019/20 campaign, still possesses enough raw talent to be the first player of Indian descent to feature for a major European footballing club since Vikash Dhorasoo.

During the 2019/20 campaign in which FC Bayern II captured the 3. Bundesliga title, Singh scored ten goals for the FC Bayern reserves. He also made two appearances for the senior side. Unfortunately, the subsequent season did not prove especially advantageous to his development. A loan stint with 1. FC Nürnberg was cut short by mutual consent and the Auckland native was unable to help the FCB farm team stave off relegation to the fourth tier.

As pertains to FC Bayern II, Germany's record champions scramble to find places for players they wish to retain. Loan destinations for players that the club doesn't wish to lose on free transfers must be secured as the Regionalliga is not considered an acceptable level for much of Bayern's young talent to play in.

The New Zealand daily, in noting that Singh is not eligible to play for the countries "All Whites" in the company Olympic tournament, surmises that a new loan deal should be near.
