According to information from RevierSport, VfL Wolfsburg are seriously considering making an approach for SC Verl coach Tobias Strobl.

The 38-year-old could succeed Dieter Hecking in Wolfsburg, who has just been announced as the club's new managing director.

During the recently concluded 2025-26 season, Strobl led Verl to a sixth-place finish – as many points behind the promotion play-off spot.

Aside from Strobl, numerous other candidates are supposedly being considered for the vacant Wolfsburg coaching position.

Most recently, names like FC Southampton's Tonda Eckert and Enrico Maaßen of FC St. Gallen have been circulating.

Also on their shortlist are, among others: Dino Toppmöller, Alexander Blessin (St. Pauli), Danny Röhl (Rangers) and Dietmar Kühbauer (LASK).
