Report: Atlético enter Füllkrug race

Spanish sports daily Diario AS reports that Atlético Madrid have entered the race to acquire German national team striker Niclas Füllkrug.

According to at least one source, it appears as if veteran German striker Niclas Füllkrug's "Wanderlust" extends beyond Italy. It has recently been reported that, amid interest from AC Milan, the 31-year-old remains very much interested in moving to the Serie A at this point in his career. Spain's Diario AS now reports that Atlético Madrid are prepared to offer Füllkrug another option.

The Spanish paper claims that the Madrilenians have entered the race for Füllkrug. The La Liga side seeks a new lead striker following the high profile departure of Spanish national team nine Alvaro Morata to the very same Italian club courting Füllkrug. It could conceivably be the case that Füllkrug finds a situation in which he can expect better playing prospects a more attractive option.

The Dortmund signing of Stuttgart star Serhou Guirassy leaves Füllkrug facing the prospect of fewer minutes in the coming season. Füllkrug - not unlike his former BVB and German national team colleague Mats Hummels - is reportedly not interested in making a move within German football. A move abroad nevertheless offers him some more intriguing prospects.
