Martin Demichelis has appeared to be the top candidate to replace Ole Werner at RB Leipzig. Werner returned the RedBull-backed club to Champions League, but Sky understand a decision has now been made by Oliver Mintzlaff, Jürgen Klopp and Mario Gomez to go with another coach for next season.

Surprisingly, former FC Bayern defender Demichelis is at the top of the list of candidates. The Argentine wasn't able to keep Real Mallorca in LaLiga, despite picking up 18 points in 12 games since taking the job.

Multiple reports from Spain have now said he's finalising his separation with Mallorca before stepping up into his next challenge. The 45-year-old has won the league with River Plate before a spell with Mexican side CF Monterrey. The former centre-back won the Meisterschale four times during his time at FC Bayern.
