Confirmed: Bayern defensive prospect receives new chance in Lower Saxony

After failing to break into the 1. FC Köln first-team, FC Bayern prospect Bright Arrey-Mbi will get a fresh start this year with Hannnover 96 in Germany's second footballing division.

Bright Arrey-Mbi's 18-month-loan arrangement with 1. FC Köln has been prematurely terminated so that the young talent can move to Hannover 96. The former Chelsea academy man moved to the FC Bayern campus in 2019 and has since represented Germany at the U17 level nine times. The central defender's prospects have nevertheless been thwarted and Bayern management clearly thought a chance was needed.

"Bright has very great potential, which is why we signed him a to a professional contract good through 2025," FCB sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic noted in a statement on Bayern's website, "For his further development, he now needs games at a higher level.Hannover 96 is an optimal station for this. Bright will gain the experience he wants in the second Bundesliga."

"Word has  spread that Hannover 96 has become an interesting address for young players," the player himself added, "This season, too, a number of guys have already been given the opportunity to show themselves in the first team. I want to take the next steps in my development here and work hard for my chance."

Arrey-Mbi never appeared for the Köln first-team since joining die Geißböcke on loan last January. He did make nine appearances fro the reserves in the Regionalliga. Arrey-Mbi made a total of 34 appearances fro the Bayern reserves whilst on the campus, including 19 appearances for FCB II when they were in the 3. Liga.
