Official: Leipzig's Novoa joins Basel on 18-month-loan

Both clubs involved officially confirmed Hugo Novoa's long-term loan-out on Wednesday evening.

Hugo Novoa Ramos 18-month-long loan out to FC Basel 1893 is confirmed. The 24-times capped Spanish youth international extended his current contract with parent club RB Leipzig so as to make the loan work through the end of next season. Commenting on the deal via Basel's website, Novoa called the Swiss club's offer "an interesting opportunity."

"I get the chance to take the next step in my career at one of the biggest clubs in Switzerland," Novoa remarked in a statement accompanying the signing.

"Hugo is a young player with great potential whom we wish to develop further," FCB sporting director Heiko Vogel added, "He is one of the youngest Spanish U21 players and has also already gained some experience at the highest level at Leipzig."
