Matthäus: Hakimi is the best left-back in the Bundesliga

Sky pundit Lothar Matthäus considers Borussia Dortmund's Achraf Hakimi the best left-back in the Bundesliga.
Borussia Dortmund's Achraf Hakimi has been praised by former German international Lothar Matthäus who sees him as the best left-back in the Bundesliga.

Matthäus believes Hakimi, 20, has made a huge impact since joining Borussia Dortmund from Real Madrid on a two-year loan deal in the summer. The Real Madrid loanee has mostly been used at left-back at Dortmund, but can also play on the right side.

According to the Sky pundit, the Moroccan international is a player Germany coach Joachim Löw would love to have at his disposal.

"Hakimi has played a crazy first half of the season," Matthäus wrote in his column for Sky and added:

"For me, Hakimi is the best left-back in the league right now. It would make 'Jogi' Löw happy if he had someone with his dynamics, pace and technical ability."

So far, Hakimi has made 17 appearances for Borussia Dortmund with one goal and six assists to his name.
