It created a lot of fuss when Robert Lewandowski's agent Pini Zahavi said back in May that his client wanted to leave Bayern München.

Since then, the Bayern bosses have stressed numerous times that the 29-year-old Polish international will not be sold despite his alleged interest in finding a new challenge.

Still, Lewandowski's future at the Allianz Arena has been questioned a lot recently. But now, Bayern coach Niko Kovac underlines once and for all that the striker will stay.

"He will not leave this club. We certainly don't want to let him go," Kovac told Sky Sport Germany and added:

"It's true that Robert toys with going elsewhere. One thing is what he wants, and the other is what we want. It's our decision. Robert has a contract - I don't know how long - and will stay here as long as possible."

"We want to achieve a lot with him. He is a great footballer who has already achieved a lot in the Bundesliga, has scored many goals and will now score many goals in the new season."

Lewandowski's contract runs out in 2021.
