Maximilian Mittelstädt's rise to the German national team has earned him a new contract with VfB Stuttgart. The 2023/24 Bundesliga runners-up confirmed a new deal for the 27-year-old on Saturday; pumping up the home crowd shortly before the Saturday afternoon kickoff against FSV Mainz 05. The newly-capped DFB international extended his current working papers from 2026 to 2028. It stands to reason that a significant salary increase is part of the deal.

“Maxi Mittelstädt has made an impressive journey since joining us," VfB sporting chief Fabian Wohlgemuth noted in a statement, "He has become a top performer and national player here. It quickly became clear to us that we wanted to extend his contract early and tie Maxi to VfB for the long term. We are delighted that we have succeeded in doing so and are very much looking forward to our future together in white-and-red.”

“I'm very happy about the contract extension," the player himself added, "I felt very comfortable and at home at VfB Stuttgart from day one and settled in very quickly. Last season was very special for all of us, finishing as runners-up and qualifying for the Champions League. Things could hardly have gone better for me personally in my first year at VfB."

"Taking part in the European Championships was a dream come true for me," Mittelstädt continued, "I am very grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way. I'm looking forward to the next few years in the VfB jersey and the outstanding support of our fans."
