Erling Haaland guides Norway to a winning World Cup start with a first-half brace against Iraq. The ex-Borussia Dortmund striker only needed half an hour to make his mark before benefitting from Jalal Hassan's blunder before the half-time break.

Iraq's star player Aymen Hussein made the game interesting in their first World Cup game for 40 years, but Ståle Solbakken's side added two more late goals. Former Hoffenheim defender Leo Østigård scored three minutes after his introduction with a powerful header before Haaland forced an own-goal in the last action of the game.

Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Ryerson and RB Leipzig's Antonio Nusa were in the starting lineup for their country's first World Cup game in the 21st century. Norway sit top of the group ahead of France as the two favorites meet in the final group stage fixture.
