Augsburg begin busy evening with Matsima signing

In what may be the first signing of a very busy day in the Fuggerstädt, FC Augsburg have unveiled their preferred replacement for departed German central defender Felix Uduokhai.

Two more arrivals are rumored to be in the pipeline. Two more FCA departures should also be confirmed before the day is out.

FC Augsburg have confirmed a targeted signing meant to replace departed former German youth international Felix Uduokhai. French youth international Christian Matsima will arrive on loan from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. The 22-year-old - who also won silver with France in the Olympics - maintains an estimated market worth of €7 million.

Augsburg are also rumored to be close to signing French attacker Alexis-Claude Maurice on a free transfer. Nigerian defensive midfielder Frank Onyeka may also be unveiled before the day is out. On the departure front, Arne Engels' move to Scotland is expected to be confirmed shortly.

Sky Germany also reports that the Bavarian Swabians have re-considered their decision to hang onto midfielder Niklas Dorsch. The 26-year-old is apparently on his way back to his former club 1. FC Heidenheim.

“With Chrislain Matsima, we are getting the desired reinforcement for our central defense,” FCA sporting director Marinko Jurendic said of the evening's first signing, “He is a young and very talented player with top potential. “Thanks to his playing strength, size and speed, he gives us more options in the defensive line. We are looking forward to our time together and to accompanying him in his further development at FCA.”

"The talks with FC Augsburg convinced me straight away," the player himself added, "The club showed me a clear perspective that fits in very well with my ideas. The Bundesliga  is one of the strongest leagues in the world and I am convinced that I can develop optimally here as a young player. I'm really looking forward to the new challenge in Augsburg and I'm ready to give i my best.”
