Reports have been circulating recently that Manuel Neuer and Bayern Munich are close to agreeing a contract extension until 2026.

And speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Bayern's board member for sport, Max Eberl, confirmed that talks between the parties are in the final stages.

“The talks are definitely going in the direction that we can imagine [an extension], and Manu can imagine it as well. Now we just have to clarify and discuss the final details,” said Eberl.

Neuer, 38, has been with the Bavarians since 2011 and has made 540 appearances for the club.

He's currently sidelined due to a broken rib.
