With Thomas Müller's contract with Bayern Munich expiring at the end of the season, the 35-year-old's future up in the air.

Bayern president Herbert Hainer is currently unable to say what the future holds for Müller. What he can say, however, is that he wants the former Germany international to remain at the club when his playing days are over.

"Thomas will make a decision depending on his fitness and how he feels. We also want to talk to him about what he wants to do when he stops playing, because we want him to be involved with Bayern in one way or another. It's up to him whether he wants to do that immediately or whether he wants to take a break after such a long period of playing," Hainer told Sport Bild.

"I trust him to do a lot of things at our club because he knows FC Bayern inside out. He's an intelligent guy with a unique instinct for what to do and what to say. But the fact is that being a decision-maker at FC Bayern today is something you have to learn. Thomas brings a lot to the table, from management to ambassador to a kind of foreign minister of the club, everything is possible. He's a legend in any case. Our big wish is to get him involved.

Muller has spent his entire career at Bayern, making 737 appearances with 247 goals anf 272 assists to his name.
