After losing 2-1 to Atletico Madrid in the first leg, Borussia Dortmund will be hoping to overturn a one-goal deficit at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night and reach the semifinals of the Champions League for the first time since the 2012/13 season.
The first match was a game of two halves, with Atletico dominating in a first half that Dortmund couldn't be happy with by any means. However, despite struggling at times, BVB almost came away with a draw when Julian Brandt's header hit the post in stoppage time.
BVB coach Edin Terzic knows that this time his team must be ready to go from the final whistle.
“Atlético forced us to make mistakes last week. But tomorrow we have everything in our own hands to advance to the next round. We know that our opponents are very experienced,” he said at the pre-match press conference.
"Tomorrow we want to do better from the start. When you play against Atlético, individual mistakes are punished immediately. We know what must not happen to us tomorrow."
Atletico coach Diego Simeone is well aware of the threat Dortmund pose.
"I see what shape my players are in. They will play a good game and it's going to be a great Champions League night.
“We are up against a team who are very strong at home. They will start with a lot of pace, they will go all out, carry a threat from dead-ball situations. It's a Dortmund side with talent on the wing, as well as through the middle.”
In terms of personnel, Borussia Dortmund will be without Sebastien Haller, who scored in the first leg, as he's out with an ankle problem. Ramy Bensebaini is also injured.
According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Donyell Malen will miss the game as well, while Jadon Sancho and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens are fit and available.
Jadon Sancho is set to return to the side, and Dortmund are hoping that Jamie Bynoe-Gittens will be fit enough to be in the squad as well.
Atletico Madrid will be without the suspended Samuel Lino and Memphis Depay, who is out with a muscle problem. Saul Niguez and Thomas Lemar are doubtful.
