At first, he was one of the brightest sparks at Borussia Dortmund. But since successive injuries drained his potential, Gio Reyna is usually seen on the club’s substitute bench. As Niko Kovac rotates his team to handle fixture congestion, the American started each of the last two Bundesliga matches.

But, that doesn’t change his future with the Black and Yellows. Reyna, who spent the second half of last season at Nottingham Forest, will most likely leave in the summer with his contract at Dortmund only running until 2026.

According to Sky, BVB put a price tag of €15 million for the summer with reported interest coming from clubs in Spain, Italy and France. Earlier this week, The Athletic reported that BVB officials had given up on the player who couldn’t live up to hefty expectations for many reasons.

Having joined the club in 2019, Reyna featured in over 100 Bundesliga matches. He played a starring role in the 2020-21 season, but that was the last time he played over 1000 league minutes in a single campaign.
