Max Rosenfelder had to be substituted just 12 minutes after coming on during SC Freiburg’s 3-0 defeat to TSG Hoffenheim at the weekend.
The Bundesliga outfit have now confirmed that the 23-year-old has suffered a muscle injury in the back of his right thigh and will be sidelined for several weeks.
Rosenfelder has generally been unlucky with injuries this season, having previously missed time on the pitch due to a hamstring injury and later a torn muscle fiber.
So far in the 2025/26 campaign, the German centre-back has made 18 appearances for Freiburg.
With Philipp Lienhart also out injured, Bruno Ogbus and Matthias Ginter are expected to form the central defence against Borussia Mönchengladbach this weekend.
