Commenting on his first ever professional season without a trophy since the year he made his professional debut (2008), German footballing legend Thomas Müller kept his post-match comments terse.

Bayern's 2-4 loss to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (after rushing out to an early 2-0 lead no less) left Thomas Müller left to ponder everything that had gone wrong for the German record champions this season. The 34-year-old wasn't in the mood to hear that he hd caught up with Sepp Maier in the club's internal rankings with his 473rd Bundesliga appearance for Bayern.

"We just lost 2-4," Müller told the Sky mics, " I thank you for all the congratulations, but I'm not interested in any match records today. Sorry."

Müller defected a question as to whether he was one of the FCB professionals petitioning club management to retain the services of head-coach Thomas Tuchel. Müller's comments on the ill-fated Tuchel regime nevertheless appeared to suggest that he himself didn't feel that Tuchel was responsible for the failed campaign.

"Thanks to Tuchel and the coaching team," Müller said, "Because in this wild year, under no easy circumstances, he also had to sweep up a mess that he didn't produce himself. Maybe the fit as a team just wasn't right."

"We respectfully congratulate everyone who has beaten us this year, including the champs Leverkusen," Müller said, "I want to get out of this season and into the new one."
