Nagelsmann on Gnabry and Musiala: 'The probability they will both start is very low'

Julian Nagelsmann will make a late call on whether to risk Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala against Greuther Fürth. "The probability they will both start is very low," says the Bayern coach.

Bayern München coach Julian Nagelsmann has revealed he is unlikely to start both Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala against Greuther Fürth tomorrow.

The two wingers should be fit to play after returning to training following short injury lay-offs, but with a Champions League game against Dynamo Kiev coming up next week, Nagelsmann will make a late call on whether to risk them.

"The good news is that Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala have both been able to return to training, with Lucas Hernandez also taking part today," Nagelsmann told reporters.

"Serge and Jamal are both looking good and ready to play. But we have to wait and see what happens tomorrow. Both of their conditions could cause a reaction after training, so we have to wait and see how sensible it is to field them from the start. We also have a Champions League game coming up next week.

"Looking at today's training session alone, I'd say that both players can start tomorrow. But the probability they will both start is very low."

With Musiala and Gnabry both doubtful, Marcel Sabitzer could make his first start following his summer switch from RB Leipzig. Asked if the 27-year-old is an option for the wing, Nagelsmann responded:

"Marcel could play on the wing. He has done that for the national team, and he did that in Leipzig before I joined them. It's not his best position. He feels more comfortable in the centre, and I think he's stronger in the centre.

'Sabi' is still adapting. I think that's normal when you join a new team. Nonetheless, we will see him from the start soon. I'm not sure that will be tomorrow, but he's definitely a candidate for the starting eleven, if only to get more rhythm and to adjust to this team better."

As for absentees, Bayern will be without Corentin Tolisso, Sven Ulreich and Kingsley Coman.
