Selke apologizes to fans and backs Dardai after rout: "I'll take everything they throw at me."

Davie Selke's return to the Hertha starting XI proved about as bad a day for him as the last time he made the lineup.

The 26-year-old found himself in no mood to make excuses during his post-match interview.
The last time Davie Selke suited up as a starter for Hertha, the team dropped a humiliating 0-5 blank to Bayern at the Allianz. Somehow, the former German youth international had to deal with an even worse result three rounds later.

"I don't want to throw out any clichés now," Selke told the Sky microphones after Saturday's 0-6 shellacking, "We were always one step too late. That just wasn't good enough from A to Z. A shitty day for us today."

"We have to apologize to the fans who came along today," he added, "Such a performance just doesn't cut it. I'll take everything they throw at me."

Asked how he planned to deal with the aftermath of the slaughter, Selke then said he would "lock his smartphone in the drawer" and take two days to recover. When it came to accepting his fair share of the responsibility, the Schondorf native was unequivocal.

"Don't get me started on the coaching discussion," Selke noted, keeping with his promise of being glib, "We will work through this calmly and need the experience of Pal and his coaching staff. We stand by the coaching team. Today, we fumbled it away on the pitch."
