Van Bommel: Germany snub 'a pity' for Baku
Mark van Bommel says 'it's a pity' for Ridle Baku that he was left out of Hansi Flick's latest Germany squad.
VfL Wolfsburg coach Mark van Bommel has reacted to Germany coach Hansi Flick's decision to overlook Ridle Baku for his most recent squad, which was announced today.
The versatile Wolfsburg player was included in Flick's first squad as Germany coach last month, but was left out this time around.
"Hansi Flick called me and Ridle and explained his decision to us," van Bommel told reporters on Friday.
"He's doing well. He's doing everything he can," he added.
"It's a pity for Ridle, everyone wants to play for his country."
