Bayern hopeful of Nagelsmann return in time for cup showdown
Bayern München head-coach Julian Nagelsmann remains in domestic quarantine until a negative COVID test.
The club remains hopeful that they will get one today and that the trainer will return in time for tomorrow's cup fixture against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

"For me, the most important thing is to live in the here and now," the 40-year-old said in his latest attempt to deflect the extra attention away from himself, "there's no reason for me to think about other things. The fact that I may want to take primary responsibility for some other team at some other point remains my aspirational objective. But I'm also perfectly happy with my current role at FC Bayern."
Regarding how long Toppmöller will have to fulfill this role remains to be seen. The second round of Germany's domestic cup means that Bayern's next major fixture is only a day away. Bayern do not have it easy in the DFB-Pokal either. Germany's record Champions must travel to Gladbach and win.
Should they falter, there will suddenly be a huge stain on the nascent Nagelsmann regime. Bayern are expected to compete for the Pokal trophy every year. Nagelsmann may have to reckon with a major failure even though he's not even allowed on the sidelines in the elimination match.
Nagelsmann must test negative today (Tuesday) in order to have the chance to lead the team directly tomorrow (Wednesday). The fully vaccinated trainer reportedly remains in good condition.
The club issued a statement on Tuesday saying that retained hope of this outcome.
