Antonio di Salvo's second set of call ups for Germany's top youth-level squad will play two qualifying matches for the UEFA 2023 U21 European Championship next week. The three debutants on the roster are Marton Dardai (Hertha BSC), Jan Thielmann (FC Köln), and back-up keeper Noah Atubolu (SC Freiburg).

Thielmann was actually called up in October, but had to pass up on his nomination due to illness. Players who performed very well in October, yet must sit this round out because of injury include Malik Tillman (FC Bayern München) and Maximilian Bauer (SpVgg Greuther Fürth). Other prospects unavailable due to injury this time include Shinta Appelkamp (Fortuna Düsseldorf) and Louis Jordan Beyer (Borussia Mönchengladbach)

Prospects returning to the side after injury include Youssoufa Moukoko (Borussia Dortmund) and Lars Lukas Mai (Bayern-on loan at SV Werder Bremen).

FSV Mainz striker Jonathan Burkardt's blistering form surge evidently wasn't enough to earn him a promotion to Hansi Flick's senior squad this time, but he will return to captain the U21 team. Kevin Schade (SC Freiburg), Tom Krauß (RB Leipzig-on loan at Nürnberg), Erik Shuranov (Nürnberg), and Angelo Stiller (Hoffenheim) are also back to build upon their successes from last month.
