Marco Reus: "It was a deserved defeat"

Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus admits his side deserved to lose to RB Leipzig.
Borussia Dortmund fell to their first defeat against RB Leipzig in over four years as they lost 2-1 at Red Bull Arena in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters after the game, BVB captain Marco Reus admitted his team deserved to lose.

"The first half was completely forgettable. In the second half, we switched to a four-man backline, which suits us better because we're more active than with a five-man backline, and we have one more man to press," Reus told reporters and continued:

"The second half was better, we were more aggressive, made it 1-1, and then we conceded the stupid 1-2 goal. We made it way too easy for them there. Leipzig also had a lot of opportunities to close the game. We were very lucky.

"It was a deserved defeat. We knew beforehand that Leipzig would be even more aggressive than under their former coach. We didn't manage to be at eye level in terms of aggressiveness, readiness, opening up the game. We were too slow. It got better in the second half, but overall we showed too little.

"In the end, we ran out of energy after the last few weeks. We didn't deserve it today because we won fewer duels and created fewer chances than them. We didn't invest enough for a game like this."
