Modeste takes swipe at Schmadtke after win: "Happy to send Wolfsburg into crisis."

Brace-scorer Anthony Modeste was kind enough to give everyone watching in the Bundesrepublik another cult interview following his side's 3-2 comeback win over Wolfsburg.

Anthony Modeste's spectacular comeback season has delighted football enthusiasts all across Germany. Last season's woes actually weren't the first time that the 33-year-old French striker had been written off and out of German German football.

Despite a strong 2016/17 campaign in a Köln tricot, Modeste was considered past his prime and expendable at the time. In the summer of 2017, Modeste was the subject of a botched transfer to Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian.

After a summer of endless confusion between player, advisor, and both clubs the Frenchman was finally sent East on a deal that remains murky. It's still not known precisely whether Modeste was loaned with a purchase option or outright sold. After a year in the Chinese Super League, Modeste cancelled his contract with the Chinese club.

The managing director of 1. FC Köln at the time of Modeste's summer 2017 fiasco? None other than current VfL Wolfsburg sporting CEO Jörg Schmadtke.

After scoring the game-winning goal in the 89th minute to send Schmadtke's club to their sixth straight defeat, Modeste repeated the same line to both German public broadcaster ARD and the Sky Germany microphones.

"You always meet twice in life," Modeste told both broadcasters, "It's very nice to win here and send Jörg Schamdtke's Wolfsburg into crisis."

Now in his 8th season in the Bundesliga, Modeste has attained a safe cult-status among the German footballing public.

Modeste has already delivered unforgettable moments this season, each time after scoring a brace.

He swiped head-coach Steffen Baumgart's trademark flat-cap and did an impromptu shimmy dance after scoring his second goal in a round 11 2-2 draw with Union Berlin.

After scoring a brace in round nine's 2-2 draw with Leverkusen, he asked a German reporter attempting to interview him in English if he could speak German. The moment went viral across Germany.
