After four years of suiting up for das Kleeblatt, Hzans Nunoo Sarpei is headed from one last-placed Bundesliga side to another. Second division side FC Ingolstadt 04 confirmed the capture of the 23-year-old early on Tuesday evening. Sarpei, who would have been out of contract after the season, made eight appearances for Fürth in the top flight this season. He was a reliable regular for the Franconians during their promotion campaign last year.

Details on a transfer fee were not disclosed by the FCI. Sarpei maintains a €700,000 market value in the latest transfermarkt listings and still regarded by many as player with exceptional physical gifts and solid developmental potential. It stands to reason that Rachid Azzouzi and Fürth were given some compensation for him.

The nephew of Bundesliga great Hans Adu Sarpei arrived in the Bundesrepublik at a relatively young age to work through VfB Stuttgart's youth academy. The native Ghanian speaks fluent German and expressed his desire to help Ingolstadt avoid relegation in his statement on the signing.

"Of course, I know that the task of remaining in the league will not be an easy undertaking," Sarpei noted, "it necessitates unity and belief. I'm very happy to be part of this team and wish to make my contribution to this."

Ingolstadt's are currently seven points off the relegation spot in the 2. Bundesliga with 16 rounds remaining. Fürth, on the other hand, are 12 points off the Bundesliga's playoff place with half of the season completed.

The Bundesliga's likely-to-be-relegated side continue with their quest to cut off four players before even thinking about the possibility of reinforcements. Sporting director Azzouzi has now gotten two members of the quartet off the books.
