Confirmed: Kruse re-joins Wolfsburg
Max Kruse is back at VfL Wolfsburg, having signed a contract until 2023 with 'Die Wölfe'
In a rather surprising move, Wolfsburg have signed Max Kruse from Union Berlin with immediate effect.
The 33-year-old returns to his former club on a contract until 2023.
"I've made the decision to return to VfL Wolfsburg because our history together isn't over yet. I know what's in store for me, and I'll accept the challenge," said Kruse.
Kruse spent the 2015/16 season at Volkswagen Arena, making 43 appearances with nine goals and 12 assists to his name.
He has featured 28 times for Union Berlin this season, amassing eight goals and seven assists.
