The details of 31-year-old former VfL Wolfsburg captain Joshua Guilavogui's loan to Bordeaux were revealed on Sunday evening. The Frenchman is to be loaned out until the end of the season, but his new club will retain an option to purchase him outright. Judging by some of the language used on the VfL's social media arms, the farewell has a permanent feel about it.

Guilavogui himself is quoted as saying that the decision to leave was "a tough one" and further notes that he and his family shall miss the city and club where "they always felt at home". Guilavogui concludes by saying the Wolfsburg "shall always have a special place in his heart."

For their part, the northern Autostadt club thanks the former captain for his eight years of service and wishes the 2014/15 DFB Pokal winner all the best in his return to his homeland.
