Union Berlin have brought in 31-year-old forward Sven Michel from SC Paderborn on a permanent basis.

Michel, who has found the net 14 times in 19 games in the 2. Bundesliga this season, commented:

"The transfer to Union is a massive chance for me. The talks with [managing director for profesional football] Oliver Ruhnert and coach Urs Fischer also convinced me that they are working with a concrete plan here. That is important to me and I'm convinced that I can help this team."

"Sven is a real reinforcement with his scoring strengths and creativity, so we have had our eye on him for some time."

Union will be hoping that Michel can fill the gap left by Max Kruse, who left the German capital club to join Wolfsburg yesterday.
