VfL Wolfsburg managing director for sport Jörg Schmadtke has put pen to paper on a new contract with the Bundesliga club.

Schmadtke's contract has been extended by a further seven months until January 31, 2023.

"We agreed that, at the request of the Supervisory Board, I will be available to the club until the end of the January transfer window," commented Schmadtke.

"At VfL, we have made a number of adjustments in the recent past and also tackled one or two projects. I will now accompany this development to some extent and also continue to drive forward the planning in the sporting area together with Marcel Schäfer and our scouting department."

The 57-year-old has been Wolfsburg's managing director for sport since 2018.
