Nagelsmann: Musiala "the number one candidate" to replace Müller against Frankfurt

Jamal Musiala is in line to fill in for Thomas Müller against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Bayern München coach Julian Nagelsmann says Jamal Musiala is his "number one candidate" to replace Thomas Müller, who is out with coronavirus, against Eintracht Frankfurt tomorrow.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Nagelsmann revealed that Musiala has made a great impression in training after working his way back from COVID-19.

"Thomas is doing well and he no longer has a cold, which we're happy about. He feels really good. Jamal is an option to replace him. He has been outstanding in training, very fresh, lively and tactically good. Of course, there is a question mark as to how long he can play. But he is a young person and has no after effects. He is the number one candidate for the position to replace Thomas," said Nagelsmann.

Nagelsmann also provided an injury update on his squad, including long-term absentees Leon Goretzka and Manuel Neuer.

"Leon Goretzka has been able to make good progress. I'm happy for him, and things are looking positive. Manuel Neuer is also doing well, his knee hasn't shown any adverse reactions. I'm optimistic that he will return soon," said the Bayern coach.

"Lucas Hernandez and Kingsley Coman both picked up knocks recently. 'King' is fully fit again and will be in the squad tomorrow."
