VfB Stuttgart came back from a two-goal deficit to down Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-2 at Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Things didn't start according to plan for the relegation-threatened home side, who fell behind when Alassane Pléa opened the scoring in the 14th minute.

Pléa then set up Marcus Thuram for Gladbach's second, making the situation even more difficult for Stuttgart, who were winless in nine games before tonight.

But Stuttgart captain Wataru Endo gave his side a glimmer of hope with 38 minutes on the clock as his deflected shot went into the net.

At the beginning of the second half, Chris Führich deservedly made it 2-2 for Stuttgart with a header at the back post, but the home side weren't finished yet.

With 83 minutes on the clock, Borna Sosa cut a pass back to Sasa Kalajdzic, who sealed the deal for Stuttgart, giving them three vital points in the race to avoid the drop.

17th-placed Stuttgart are now just one point behind Hertha in the relegation play-off spot. Gladbach, meanwhile, sit 13th, four points clear of the relegation zone.
