Fürth were undefeated in their last six games at home before tonight and started out well, opening the scoring through Jamie Leweling, who found the back of the net with a shot at the near post just four minutes into the game.
But Leipzig were unfazed and found the equaliser in the 17th minute, with André Silva powering a header past Andreas Linde after a good cross from Angelino.
The guests took the lead for the first time just past the half hour mark through Emil Forsberg and went on to score two more goals before the break, with Konrad Laimer and Benjamin Henrichs adding to the scoreline.
Mohamed Simakan added a fifth with a header in the 59th minute before Christopher Nkunku closed the show for Leipzig 10 minutes later, making it 6-1.
The win sees Leipzig reclaim fourth place. At the other end of the table, bottom-placed Fürth find themselves nine points from the relegation play-off spot.
