Borussia Mönchengladbach have been awarded a 2-0 win over VfL Bochum, the German Football Association (DFB) announced on Thursday.

Visitors Gladbach were leading 2-0 in the second half at Vonovia Ruhrstadion in Bochum last Friday when the game was abandoned after the linesman was hit by a plastic beer cup thrown from the crowd during the second half of the game.

VfL Bochum have since demanded a replay, claiming the club shouldn't be blamed for the incident, but the DFB has now stated that Gladbach will be given all three points.

Schalke 04 were given a 2-0 win over St. Pauli 11 years ago after a similar incident.
