Baumgart: "It wasn't the better team that won"

FC Köln pulled off a comeback against Mainz despite not being the better team, according to Billy Goats coach Steffen Baumgart.

FC Köln recovered from a 0-2 deficit to run out 3-2 winners against Mainz at the RheinEnergieStadion on Saturday.

In a post-match interview, Köln coach Steffen Baumgart acknowledged that the best team didn't win.

"We weren't good for the first 60 minutes, but we came back well with the goal and the changes we made. It was important that the guys kept going. We had that bit of luck in the end. It wasn't the better team that won, but the one that scored one more goal. We know we have to do better in the next games," said Baumgart.

Mainz coach Bo Svensson was naturally disappointed.

"It's very bitter for us," he said.

"We had the game well under control in the first hour. After the triple change, we defended badly and let the opponent back into the game. Then the home fans started believing again, and it was difficult for us."
