Report: Augsburg keen on rising German midfield talent Tom Krauß

According to Germany's main sporting tabloid, FC Augsburg may be the next destination of Germany U21 prospect Tom Krauß.
After two years on loan at 1. FC Nürnberg, 20-year-old midfielder Tom Krauß is due back at RB Leipzig at the end of the season. Krauß' time playing for the 2. Bundesliga Bavarian side has unequivocally been a success. During his tenure with Nürnberg, and thanks to some successful call-ups to the DFB Junior side, the youngster has increased his estimated market value from €300,000 to over €4 million.

With Nürnberg not looking likely to achieve promotion this year, a renewed stay in the second division seems to be out of the question for a a player seemingly prepared to make the jump. Krauß' parent club also may not be able to offer him adequate playing time. Germany's "Sport Bild" reports that Bavarian Bundesligist FC Augsburg may offer a solution in the form of an outright purchase.

Sport Bild's story quotes current FCN sporting director Dieter Hecking as saying that Krauß "is leaning in a certain direction and will make a decision soon." Krauß himself recently stated in a radio interview with Bayerische Rundfunk that he would have an announcement to make soon.

Krauß' current deal with Leipzig runs through 2025. He's scored five goals and contributed a further five assists in 63 appearances for the 1. FCN.
