German footballing magazine reports that Hertha BSC are actively seeking a buyer for keeper Alexander Schwolow. Signs point to a separation with veteran nezminder Rune Jarstein as well.

With the current starter between the sticks Marcel Lotka already headed to Dortmund after the season, it appears as if club sporting CEO Fredi Bobic wishes to clear the ranks ahead of his preferred candidate.

The €7 million signing of SC Freiburg keeper Alexander Schwolow ahead of the 2020/21 season hasn't exactly been a bust for Germany's Charlottenburg capital city side. The 29-year-old has guarded the net for Hertha BSC 55 times, delivering a total of 14 clean sheets. Injuries and form issues have nevertheless seen the gloveman's estimated market value drop from €8 million to €3.5 million.

Signs presently point to a divorce. German footballing magazine Kicker reports that club sporting CEO Fredi Bobic is actively shopping the former German youth international. The country's preeminent footballing publication also notes that Bobic no longer considers 37-year-old Rune Jarstein a viable option for the roster.

Veteran Jarstein recently signed a contract extension through 2023 last spring, but has not seen any club action since a bout with COVID left him hospitalized shortly thereafter. With the club's current starter Marcel Lotka--called upon because of personnel issues--already headed to Dortmund after the season, "die alte Dame" are set to part company with three keepers.

The tea leaves in this particular instance aren't especially difficult to read. Bobic obviously wishes to clear a path for a prospect signed last summer. Twenty-three-year-old Danish keeper Oliver Christensen still hasn't made an appearance for his new German club. Brought in at a price tag of €3 million last September, however, it's reasonable to assume that Bobic wishes to make use of this investment.

Hertha also have German keeper Nils-Jonathan Körber on the roster. It is rumored that Robert Kwasigroch will also soon earn a promotion from the youth squad.
